SYNOPSIS

Ares Sterling is a husband and father with a boring job and comfortable suburban lifestyle, which allows him to forget his tragic and bloody past. But, when his wife is kidnapped, he must return to the man who is the root of his pain, his estranged father “King” (Clifton Powell).
King, a notorious organized crime boss, is the key to unraveling the mystery of the disappearance of Ares’ wife, by revealing the clues he needs as he races against time to save his family from tragedy.

CLIFTON POWELL
Over 4 Decades of Hollywood Stardom
Powell has appeared in more than one hundred films, beginning in the 1980s. His legendary credits include Menace II Society (1993), Dead Presidents (1995), Why Do Fools Fall in Love (1998), Rush Hour (1998), Next Friday (2000), and its 2002 sequel Friday After Next, Woman Thou Art Loosed (2004), and Ray (2004). He portrayed Martin Luther King Jr. in the 1999 television film Selma, Lord, Selma.
On television, Powell starred on Roc, South Central, Army Wives, and Bounce TV's hit drama Saints & Sinners. He currently stars in Netflix's acclaimed dramedy series Fight Night opposite Kevin Hart.

FILMING LOCATIONS
From Virginia to Madrid, Spain
Blowback is the first large-scale movie filmed in Hampton, Virginia (home of the Virginia Black Film Festival). Major sequences were also captured in Laurel, Maryland and Madrid, Spain, taking Ares Sterling across the Atlantic in an international manhunt across picturesque European streets and brutal urban combat.
These authentic locations give the film its sweeping visual scale and global texture, contrasting quiet suburban Americana with intense transatlantic underworld operations.

The US stunt unit was led by 7-time World Champion Willie “The Bam” Johnson (WMAC Masters, Wesley Snipes' Masters of the Martial Arts). In Europe, award-winning coordinator George Karja (LK Stunts, LaKatana Films) crafted relentless Shaolin Kung Fu & Wushu fight sequences that deliver edge-of-the-seat intensity.
Every combat scene was performed with practical stunt coordination and intense martial arts precision, bringing authentic martial arts mastery straight to the screen.
